Fun Fact: Did you know, the U.S. Navy took over the Port during World War II? The military commandeered the Port for two years to support the wartime needs of the country.
There’s a lot to celebrate and look forward to this month at the Port!
First, we’d like to welcome Chu Chang, Mike Claire and Dani Gasparini, our newest Board of Port Commissioners, who started their terms at the beginning of the month. Their expertise will contribute significantly to the Port’s mission, and we are grateful to have them on board. We’d also like to thank outgoing Commissioners Richard (Dick) Claire, Ralph Garcia and Lorianna Kastrop for their term of service. Their contributions will continue to have a great impact on the Port.
We also have a lot of exciting events to look forward to. Before the summer ends, don’t miss your chance to experience our waterfront recreation activities! Whether you’re in the mood to Rock the Dock with some live music or catch the ferry to a Giants game, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Speaking of waterfront recreation, mark your calendars for PortFest 2024 happening on Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 475 Seaport Ct, Redwood City! Join us for boat rides, sailing excursions, live music, food vendors, info booths, kid zones and more.
Lastly, we’d like to recognize and honor National Coast Guard Day, which happened earlier this month on August 4. Thank you to all those who serve and protect the maritime environment.
