June 2024/Currents Newsletter

Fun Fact: More than 300 port authorities, port commissions and navigation districts operate in the United States alone.

June has finally arrived, which means more sunny days and longer visits to the beautiful waterfront with friends and family.

At the Port, we do our best to keep the waterfront clean. Maintaining a green port is a huge priority, and we incorporate green practices into our maritime services to ensure an environmentally friendly approach. For more than three years, the Port has been a proud Green Marine partner to uphold our commitment to transforming the maritime industry.

By incorporating initiatives such as water quality improvement projects, energy savings, recycling water and reusing dredging materials, the Port is helping anchor a greener future for the Silicon Valley region.

This month, the Port is preparing for some fun upcoming activities as well. Rock the Dock is a great event to kick off all of your June weekends, followed by fireworks on the Bay on Thursday, July 4, following the 85th annual Fourth of July parade with Peninsula Celebration Association!

The Port is also excited to host a pilot ferry service that will transport community members from the Port of Redwood City to the Port of San Francisco to attend a Giants game thanks to the new Redwood City Ballpark Service Pilot Program.

I encourage you to enjoy all the fun summer activities at the Port and create unforgettable memories with your friends and family.
