March 2023/Currents Newsletter

Updated: May 5, 2023

Maritime Fun Fact: The Port of Redwood City is considered the fastest-growing small bulk port in the state.

The month of March brings an hour more of sunlight and what better way to celebrate than going outside? We highly encourage you to visit the California Canoe and Kayak or Spinnaker Sailing on our beautiful Port waterfront for fun events and classes. Maybe you are interested in joining the Sequoia Yacht Club, for waterfront comradery, sailing regattas and activities. They each have everything from day events to mini trips around the Bay Area!

California Ports Day 2023, an annual day of advocacy for the widespread benefits our ports provide for the state and country, was a huge success and brought with it a positive new study. This study confirmed and expanded upon the economic impact the California ports have on the U.S. We are happy to be a part of this successful industry and see the benefits of it first-hand. Read more below about the latest news to come from this important day.

I’m also pleased to share that we are entering into the next phase of the Redwood City Ferry Terminal project. By the end of March, we will have selected a consultant firm for the project and reached an agreement to move into CEQA, which is the necessary environmental review for the project to move forward.

Thank you for following Port news and updates. We encourage you to follow us on social media for additional updates.
