Maritime Fun Fact: Did you know October is National Seafood Month? Make sure to keep your eye on the Port’s social media to stay up to date on our fresh fish sales throughout the month!
It’s the spookiest time of the year, and what better way to start off the fall than with a $504,611 grant? The Port successfully secured a grant award through the Port Security Grant Program from the Department of Homeland Security. The grant will assist the Port with its emergency preparedness and outreach with our regional first responders.
If that piqued your curiosity, then you will love learning about a ship's journey to the Port in this month's Currents. A cargo ship travels the international seas only to reach our Port after traversing under three different bridges in order to offload or load cargo.
And October would not be the same without our annual PortFest! Kick-off the month with this free community event on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.! Don't forget that the Rock the Dock series continues at the Port through Nov. 4, so make sure to arrive early and mark your spot.
Remember to stay safe and keep our waterfront clean this fall season!
