Port of Redwood City sponsorship program supports local community

Over $20,000 awarded to Silicon Valley organizations for fiscal year 2021

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF.— The Port of Redwood City Board of Commissioners awarded $21,000 in sponsorships to six local organizations as part of the organization’s commitment to support the Silicon Valley community. The annual community sponsorship program, now in its second year of operation, supports local organizations and foundations by event sponsorship, program and operational support or other related uses such as COVID-19 impacts.

Events and programs selected for the sponsorship program will take place between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. Sponsorships are awarded to organizations with an overarching focus on maritime activities to enhance the community.  The Port’s four focus areas include:

  1. Economic Growth;

  2. Environmental Stewardship;

  3. Youth and Education; and

  4. Community Benefit.

“The Sponsorship Program is one way the Port delivers on our commitment to serve Silicon Valley.  We are pleased to support important community programs, while also educating our community on the Port’s varied businesses”, said Board of Port Commissioner’s Chair Ralph A. Garcia.
